For the Chair WBW, the three areas of research are:

- Energy Management
- Business Analytics
In those thematic areas the chair is active as part of its performance processes. The decision to establish a research area is based on both the market-oriented and the resource-based approach in accordance with the mission statement. The systematic examination of stakeholders and their needs enables targeted development and management in these areas.
